Financial Peace University

Our church has started the classes with about 30 attendees. While I am not going through the classes, those who are seem to be enjoying them. The program, which can be found at www.daveramsey.com , was located by one of our deaconesses. She suggested it to her husband, a deacon, and together they began the program. Within a few months, he had resigned his postition and gone to work for himself. At that point, he mentioned it to another deacon who had a background in finance and they brought it to the church to sponsor classes.

Another of our churches in town is sponsoring it for their members only. Just the mention of the classes in our area open to the general public aroused the notice of the press and it has been well received. The biggest drawback to the program seems to be the $100 packet for attending couples. There is a cost to the sponsoring church as well in terms of acquiring the videos. Our church also needed to acquire a laptop, projector and screen to utilize the videos.

This is Biblically based, 13 weeks long, with both videos, workbooks, and small group breakout sessions. Each class is a self-contained presentation so while it is helpful to attend them all, it is not necessary.

Has anyone else out there done this? I'm posting strictly from press releases here.
