Grace Gone Wild!: Getting a Grip on God’s Amazing Gift
by Robert Jeffress
c. 2005
This is a perfectly wonderful book! It doesn’t come with a study guide though I’m not sure it needs one.
Robert Jeffress, in this book, is the absolutely first preacher I have ever heard advocate staying in the middle of the road. His reasoning? Too far one way and you become a legalist who adds to grace. Too far the other way and you become a libertarian wh0 couldn’t find sin if it walked up and smacked them in the face with something hard.
Jeffress goes on a search for true grace as preached by Jesus and explained by Paul. It is neither fault-finding nor is it cheek-turning. It is confrontational in a loving, caring way. He takes on the big topics–spirituality, decision making, relationships, marriage, divorce, church attendance and membership, giving, confrontation, and spiritual surgery.
While he takes on the big topics, the small ones come into view as well. He minces no words but shows where some lines should be drawn while leaving others open to personal, cultural, or individual church convictions.
In this day and age of “new readings” of scripture, this book should be studied and restudied for clarity. This book has the potential to give backbone to Christians.
Thirteen well-written chapters in an easy to read and digest format.
