Mission trip to Honduras

We actually do pray here. How can we pray for you?

Mission trip to Honduras

Postby ehart on Thu Jul 31, 2008 4:37 pm

I received an email this morning indicating that a cousin of mine, Fr. John Dick and 35 of his parishoners from St Patrick's in Dennison, Texas are leaving for a missions trip to Honduras.

I'm asking for their safety and that they and the people they meet reach an increased relationship or find Jesus Christ as a results of this trip.

Those going on the trip actually expect to die on this trip from travel, disease or violence. They are going anyway.

This is the update I got from Fr. John's brother just a few minutes ago:

The missionaries got to their quarters in Comayagua (I misspelled it before) about 10:00 PM last night, later than expected, because it took them 4 hours to go through customs. Father John is very hot-natured and he said it was 85 degrees in his room. At least, they made it there safe and sound, which was in doubt, because the runways are too short; and the road from the airport in San Pedro Sula is pretty much under the control of bandits. Talk to you later.

Today's update:

The first group arrived at their mountain village yesterday.
The second group, including Father John, will leave for their mountain village today.
Everyone is fine.
Have a good one!
Talk to you later.

Here's a link to a page about the mission trip. About a third of the way down are links to pictures and a video. I think the pictures are of a previous trip Fr. John made. I haven't seen the video yet.

They all got home safely and none of them brought any diseases home with them so that's good news.

There are some pics of the trip at http://www.saintpatslifeteen.net

Praise God! Love the pics. May more mission groups go out and bring that fire right back home. God is good!
