mom with cancer

We actually do pray here. How can we pray for you?

mom with cancer

Asking for more prayers..this time it is my mom, Harriet. She has been diagnosed with a rare form of malignant breast cancer (metaplastic carcinoma - <1% of breast cancers). Diagnosed today and will be meeting with the oncologist in 2 days to discuss treatment options etc. Not even sure what to pray for just yet except maybe that it would all just go away. Will keep you all posted but would appreciate prayer for her and the family throughout this whole process.

Thanks,

Cindy

Count mine in there as well.

Is this a slow growth or a rapid growth cancer? That can make all the difference.

Going away would be great. I can pray for that.

Praying here too, both that it will go away, but also that the time of trial may be redeemed while it is here. May your mom be comforted in the arms of her heavenly Father, and Great Physician, as He uses this time to teach her, draw her to Him, and deepen her dependence on Him. Psalm 55:22

Hi everyone,

Mom went to the oncologist today. Her cancer is a very aggressive form with a high frequency of reoccurance even after treatment. After spending next week in Toronto on vacation with my dad and nephew, she will return to begin radiation treatments. She will have a scan that Monday to see if the cancer has spread to any other areas and they will be examining the lymph nodes closely. This has all hit rather suddenly (her last mammogram 6 mos. ago was completely clear) so we are all struggling a bit to take it all in. Please pray that she will be able to make wise decisions with regard to treatment options and that the whole family will be able to provide strength and support to her and to each other. The good news in all of this is that she and almost all of the family have a faith in Jesus Christ to sustain us through this difficult time.

Your prayers are much appreciated.

Cindy

Cindy,

I have recommended this book before on this site. Lynn Eib, a pastor's wife and cancer survivor who works as a patient advocate in an oncology office, has written two books for those dealing with cancer, When God and Cancer Meet, and Finding the Light in Cancer's Shadow. They are excellent resources for cancer patients and families. They are published by Tyndale and available through Christian bookstores and Amazon. In the name of full disclosure she is a good friend and the wife of one of my oldest friends. She also has a helpful website easily found by googling Lynn Eib. You also have my prayers.

Praying for a positive outcome. And also that the family members who don't have faith in Jesus Christ will receive that faith--the sooner the better.

Praises:
Mom had a great time on vacation with my Dad and nephew.
Scan shows that the cancer had not spread anywhere else and was just confined to the breast tissue.

Concerns:
Mom has developed an ugly staph infection (probably picked up while on vacation) that she has to deal with on top of everything else.
I will go to Indiana next week to be with mom when she has a meeting with all the medical professionals involved in her case. They'll be making more treatment decisions then.

After more tests and surgery to check out the lymph nodes, etc. Mom's cancer was down graded from Stage 3 to Stage 1. She started chemo last week and so far is coping very well. We are confident that prayer has been God's primary instrument in turning things for the better. THANK YOU ALL! As is typical for our family, she still is proving to be an "interesting case" and throwing all kinds of curves at the medical profession. The pathologist and several oncologists keep saying "I've never seen one like this before." We never do things the easy way. Mom is disappointed that the treatments will prevent her from traveling to the Holy Land in October. She has never been there and was really looking forward to it.

Your prayers are much appreciated and still coveted.

Cindy
