Robinson Added to the Inauguration

USA Today--Activists cheer Obama's choice of gay bishop

He loves controversial ministers. Obama needs CMA (Controversial Ministers Anonymous). President Elect Obama has now asked Episcopalian Bishop, Rev. Gene Robinson, to take part in the inauguration. What meaneth thou this? It is said a President Obama will do away with “don’t ask, don’t tell” approaches to government employees. He plans to appoint gay officials in high ranks . These gay-friendly gestures are troublesome for many denominations. It’s difficult to think of anyone more polarizing than Rev. Robinson. Robinson’s appointment is becoming the “shot heard around the world” causing the biggest church split of our day. It does placate a certain fringe among the radical left, especially as the invoking Warren is likened to Hitler by some. The Robinson inaugural addition appeases them—for the moment.

President Elect Obama plans to have a dinner honoring former opponent John McCain. This is seen as chivalrous by some talking heads. It seems chivalrous to me too. Is Obama a genuinely nice guy; or a calculating, smooth-talking, maniacal, tyrannical liberal with a “3 steps forward/2 steps back” approach to cultural, governmental change? I’m not sure. Either way, let’s just follow the money and follow the power to see what plays out. I love symbolism, but as for me and my house, we will choose substance any day.

I have suspected since he nominated Hillary to be Sec of State that either he was calculating or someone whispering in his ear is calculating. It smacked too much of the "keep your friends close; keep your enemies closer" adage. I mean, when have you ever heard of a Sec of State running for pres?

I don't know that I honestly believe that Obama is that calculating on his own though. I suspect he's a patsy for someone. Maybe the far left, maybe another group, maybe an individual. I can't honestly say at this point. (I also thought the same of Bill Clinton but I have a feeling I know who was behind him--Hillary!)

Only time will tell.

Thanks for your response EH. Jury is going to be observing P.E.B.O. as to whether he is a masterful social engineer or a people-pleasing "patsy" (P3). Another interpretation of P3 is that he is an all around good guy. He may just have an altruistic way wanting all peoples represented at the common table. Though like some denominations, that theory is good for leftover civil rights marchers, but the radical left can use them and spit them out once they get their way. I'm sure the same can be said about good, God-loving traditional evangelicals getting used by knuckle-dragging fundamentalists. Can't win, can we.

Is he slick; a patsy; or just a good, naive soul? Not sure. Just pray he’s not eee-vil.

Today (Sun.) they had all of the biggest names for a concert and poetry slam for the pre-inauguration festivities. I mean the biggest names in Hollywood. Beyonce, Stevie Wonder, Bon Jovi, U2; Garth Brooks--heavy cats. My wife resented this because the press was not invited. She believes inauguration celebration should be exclusively for the people. A private celebration afterward is different. It was by invitation only and HBO had exclusive rights to whatever went on. I just hope all the $ went to charity. I am even uneasy with that. It's like royalty getting together for a secret fundraiser and not inviting the public (press). I hope we have moved past the Louis XIV days opulent uppercrustism *sigh*.

I am very thankful our country is in a place where an African American can win the highest office, no matter who he or she may be, and no matter how liberal he is (I'm no hater). Good for us all, even my liberal friends. 8) God bless America. We must pray for our president and his family. These will be difficult times.
