My mother

We actually do pray here. How can we pray for you?

My mother

Postby JonKershner on Fri Mar 07, 2008 5:19 pm

After a busy day yesterday, my mother went into a deep insulin reaction this morning. After trying bring her out of it for a couple of hours, my father called the paramedics. After working on her for a while they took her to the hospital where attempts to give her an IV continued to fail. While the doctor was trying to insert an IV directly into her chest she went into heart failure. They were able to bring her back without the defibrilator, but she is now on a ventilator and heading for the ICU. They will be installing a temporary pacemaker to try to get her heartbeat under control.

Please pray for her condition and for my father who is trying to care for her. She has always had problems controlling her blood sugar, and recently had surgery on her foot due to her arthritis. They live some distance from the rest of the family (Florida).

Me too.
Praying for your mom and dad and for you too. You've had a whopper of a year. Keep the faith.

Thank you Dennis and chip. Yes, we have had a bad year. Dad lost his mom in the Fall, and now this about 6 months later. Two-thousand-seven was easily the worst year of my life, and 2008 is shaping up to be at least as bad so far. I'm just glad that God is faithful and active, and that I have Christian friends all over to pray for us and walk through it with us. Thanks again for praying. We need it!

We have prayer meeting tomorrow afternoon. These are some powerhouse intercessors. If anyone else has prayer concerns, don't be afraid to chuck them our way.

I just appreciate your transparency JK. You mean it's ok to hurt? I pray you hurt less but thank God I'm not the only one who hurts too.

I am talking about the mount of transfiguration this Sunday. I have had several weeping jags as I prepare. I am following the purpose of Jesus' footprints up and down mountains and it pains my heart.

1+3=7

Jesus takes the 3 up and they see Moses and Elijah and hear the Father speak. Peter would stay up that Mt. of Glory but Jesus goes down to the Valley of Need where he will take Barabbas' place and meet with Herod and Pilate. He then goes up the Mt. of Death where there will be no lords of law nor princes of prophets but 2 thieves. He chose that place for us--among us. He goes down lower than glory, buried among the wicked, but praise God he will become exalted higher than any place imaginable. He doesn't send wrath for the wicked deeds against him but sends his presence to another group on a mountain...120+1=5,000! Moses and Elijah just reflected the Glory of God; the disciples were filled with his glory. Transformed/Transfigured--What's low and internal is far superior to what was high and external. We have highs and lows, but thank God there is good that comes out of it. Peter would have stayed in that place of glory (building shelters) but Pre-Pentecost Peter pails in comparison to post-denial, in-filled Peter! He became a chip off the ole block!

None of us have arrived until we all get there, and let's remember his promise that the least among us shall have prominent places. Whether going up, down, way down, or way up, let's walk like Jesus did and take as many as we can along the way.

I am sorry I have been so late in posting an update. Things are much better with mom. She is off the ventilator, feeding tube, and pacemaker. She is being closely monitored, but everything seems to be working fine. We are just waiting for her voice to finish coming back (due to the breathing tube). As soon as a room is available she will be leaving the ICU for the Cardiac unit. Thank you all for your prayers.

P.S.--The pacemaker controls were external. They ran the electric leads down her carotid artery in her neck into her heart.

*Writing from the hospital room* Mom has been moved to the cardiac unit and is doing very well. She has some pneumonia due to inhaling some of the gel that was supposed to stop the insulin reaction. She is on antibiotics for that. We are now waiting for her to get strong enough to come home. My siblings and I will be driving home tomorrow. We intend to leave in the morning, and get back very early Thursday morning. May God be praised!
