Guess you forgot to email McCain and tell him??

Seriously, though, my husband has been listening to Rush and when I called him from the store he announced the election was over and the Repubs had won. Since I don't watch the commercials and try to stay as far away from the mud as possible, what's the verdict now? Are we back to Black Male vs White Female or what??

I think Chip may be underestimating Palin. Looks to me from her Wikepedia bio that she has taken on some tough tasks and tough people and done well. Her balanced approach to energy development and environmental concerns fits well into the balance that BO was calling for. I think questions about her inexperience will be answered by how she handles the campaign and Biden. If Biden comes off as a bully (hard for him to avoid) and she stands up to him well then she will be a definite asset. I like her stand on social issues. One Democratic writer has attacked her as an anti-abortion Catholic, but she is apparently a protestant.

OK, I change. This gal has grit. We love her. She is the personification of what America is. She is a regular Mrs. Smith Goes to Washington. Did you hear everyone chanting as she spoke? “USA; USA; USA”—she brings that out of you.

Dennis R. mentioned she is pro-life. That makes me very, very happy as a social conservative. She has done some amazing things in her life of which to be immensely proud. She is pro-home oil too; it’s good timing. She is a girl. I liked the way she gave props to Geraldine Ferraro and Senator Clinton. Even my 3 year old daughter had switched from wanting BO for prez to Hillary Clinton. Once she gets a load of Sarah Pallin, I think she will never go back. She is a great suffragette who hasn't lost her style. My wife digs her.

As far as experience goes, she has the only executive experience among JM, BO, JB, and her. Bidin can't point to her lack of experience because his boss lacks experience with zero accomplishments. I commented that JB would make mincemeat of her--but not so sure about that now. She has poise and a sense of confidence he only feigns. She may get labeled substantial and he is known only as a "windbag".

I think the country underestimates how pro-life many women are. They are tired of not seeing liberal politicians make abortion rare. Like Obama said, "Enough!"
She has said all along, "The reason why the US got the state of Alaska is for the rich resources--please come and put us to work". Americans can do the math. The oil is being outsourced to Islamic fundamentalists who are bent on our destruction. As soon as we even talk about drilling the prices will dramatically drop. If you take that logic to its final conclusion, an Islamic Republic of America wouldn't consider our environment. To protect our nations financial interests also helps our national security and our influence globally. To crumble makes us week and will hurt the environment.

Overall I would vote for her as President. She will bring the worst out of radical feminists. She had her baby this year. Her baby had Down syndrome and she had the audacity to have the child anyway and not abort it. Expect to see the worst come out of the radical left. They will be marching in the streets with their "Pro-Choice" sign. The religious left will be in lather too. I love to hear how they support abortion on demand. Their coming out into the streets will definitely cause young people to closely consider their values. A progressive running mate like Lieberman wouldn’t have done that.

Like I said, "I change". I like SP for Veep. Biden bess watch out how much he bullies her. Much of what he says may bounce back on his guy, and as I have learned in many a board room, a man never wins by barking at a woman, no matter how butch she is too.

I haven't looked at her too much but it seems to be there is everything to like about Palin. My husband is singing her praises as I type.

I like Palin on the ticket and I honestly believe that she has already done McCain as much good as Biden has already done Obama harm.

I don't think the election will be close. I'm looking for a landslide.

And just to put life in its proper perspective, McCain is scaling back on the RNC. The opening events have been mostly scrapped and one day's events have been cut from 7 hours to 2 1/2.

McCain has already been to Jackson, Miss and is expected now to speak to the convention by satellite and not in person.

Nothing like a Repub to look presidental when the opportunity arises.

It’s been 2 whole days since Sarah Palin has been McCain’s pick and the hyper-religious Left is already in a lather. Their heads are spinning and split pea soup is flying across the room. It’s been 2 whole days and I like her more.

Remember John Edwards? Did he have more experience than she? If I recall he had only a couple of short years in the senate. What made him more qualified to be John Kerry’s pick last run?

I think their eyes are rolling in the back of their heads because she is a woman of her word with accomplishments.

Alaska is the hottest topic right now and she knows what she’s talking about as it relates to drilling for oil.

She cleaned up government. When she speaks of ethics, you actually believe her. That’s the Mrs. Smith Goes to Washington appeal I was talking about. When BO, JB, or even JM--the proverbial Washington insiders--speak of ethics we all roll our eyes with skeptisism. When SP speaks of it we sit up straight. She don't play.

Palin is camera friendly. She is secure with her femininity along with her humanity. She can even handle a rifle. She has handsome kids too. One will be going to the battlefield. Her youngest son Trig had Down syndrome and she opted to keep him rather than let him go. Those other 3 candidates can talk about what they believe and what they would do; she speaks of what she has done and what she believes. I think what makes the radical left so uncomfortable is not her lack of experience but rather experience.

The Attacks:
Governor Palin, you are against abortion, but what about when the baby's life will….uh…never mind.

You support troops in the Middle East but would you be willing to send your own son…forget it.

You say you’re against government corruption but can you work in a bipartisan way…oh yeah—you had Dems and Independents in your own cabinet and you went after your own party’s corruption.

Yes, yes, yes, you are ‘a woman’, but what can you do for the working mother. Oh yeah, you’re so in touch. You are a working mother.

Governor, you are just a heartbeat away from the presidency; do you really think you have the experience to lead the Executive Branch and be Commander-in-Chief…cough, cough…sorry Sarah, I forgot, you’re the only one who has executive experience. The other 3 have only sat with committees and made speeches to colleagues. No snap decisions for them.

Folks, I think aside from all of this and more, the girl has the goods. The way she spoke to that crowd was energizing. I’ll take inspiring experience over lofty platitudes any day. The political and religious left need to be careful about grilling this gal too much: red, white, and blue people may juxtapose her values with her opponents'. I’m not talking about Biden either, I’m talking about Obama.

"McCain only got SP for the Hillary Clinton woman vote and those women would never go for a pro-life candidate!"

The Religious and political left are underestimating 2 important things:

1) How many women are not as pro-choice as they think. For so long the radical fringe of the feminist movement has spoken of making abortion safe, legal, and rare. Rare has never been talked about. I think the thought of abortion on demand frightens many soccer/hockey moms. SP may be refreshing compared to the current liberal icons.

2) There is this thinking that SP is only on the ticket to grab women voters. It's so not the case. She is speaking to the men in her party and I think she is charging up some men outside the party too. I heard one moderate bipartisan commentator refer to her as Margaret Thatcheresque. Can you see SP doing well speaking to British Parliament? She can make you laugh, mock with a twinkle in her eye, and be very tough on things that compromise the common good. That resonates with people.

She has been grace under fire. Women may start saying "enough" to such a high number of abortions, and kool-aid drinking Obama supporters may be surprised to how many types of people she inspires. Babel has a lot of climbing to do to regain the momentum from their platitudes. I just heard one of BO's speeches. After hearing the inspiring rhetoric from SP, BO sounded more like an empty suit than he did before. Maybe appearances Oprah and the View can give him another bump in the poles.

Last week SP said the difference between a Hockey Mom and a pitbull is "lipstick" (ha ha).

BO just said JM and his party are just 8 more years of GWB; you can put "lipstick" on a pig, but when it’s all said and done it’s still a pig.”

Some of the right-leaning political talking-heads are indignant. BO defenders are saying, “No, no; he wasn’t referring to SP!” Clearly he was.

What I think? That was witty and funny. It made a good point for BO’s position. People need to loosen up just a tad—right and left. Kudos for BO’s speech writers for tying in that pig line. Nice jibe.

I loved the lipstick line. It was pointed, funny and self depricating all at the same time. Obama's lipstick was pointed. Not sure about funny, but definitely not self depricating.
Paling is going to be hard for Obama to overcome. My prognostication that he will win is looking pretty shaky from here.
