Merry Christmas to everyone. Don’t minimize this glorious, wonderful holy-day. If we don’t believe in the Virgin Birth, we should just celebrate Chanukah and hope for a better day. As we celebrate, let’s remember Mary’s virginity.
The Bible says she was a virgin (Luke 1). Denying that nullifies other holidays. If Jesus wasn’t born of the Holy Spirit and born of sinful men, his death would have been in vain. The babe’s blood would have been sinful like ours. He would have deserved death. His blood was different. He was sinless in the fullest sense of the law. His death was substitutionary for you and me--Merry Christmas to the world! His literal resurrection was powerful. His presence is real, not just philosophical. His return will be glorious. Because of his virgin birth, Maundy Thursday and Good Friday have deep, profound theological significance. Holy week demonstrates not only our need to try and live sacrificially as Christ lived, but even more, demonstrates the Father’s great sacrifice for us (John 3:16). He gave his only begotten Son as a ransom for our sins (Hebrews 9:15). That’s why we celebrate Christmas, Good Friday, Easter, and Pentecost so highly. Praise God for His gift of His Holy Spirit.
Silent night, holy night
All is calm, all is bright
Round yon Virgin Mother and Child
Holy Infant so tender and mild
Sleep in heavenly peace
Sleep in heavenly peace
Silent night, holy night!
Shepherds quake at the sight
Glories stream from heaven afar
Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia!
Christ, the Saviour is born
Christ, the Saviour is born
Silent night, holy night
Son of God, love's pure light
Radiant beams from Thy holy face
With the dawn of redeeming grace
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth "
Jesus = “God to the rescue!” Emanuel = “God with us!” Let’s go tell it on a mountain to everyone, “Jesus Christ is born--Merry Christmas to all!”
